Tourist town of Namakabroud located within twelve kilometers of west of Chalus in the green land of Mazandaran province.  Namakabroud covers approximately 650 hectares of beautiful picturesque land. It reaches Caspian Sea from the north and Madvin heights (one of the highest mountain of the Alborz Mountains) from the south.
The violet and boxwood forest parks in the northern part of Namakabroud town has created 200 hectares of picturesque scenery in this part of the land. While in the southern part of the land, forested hillside Madvin has created a dense forest with extremely beautiful visual landscape.

Initial plans of Namakabroud were designed by architectures Daz, Charkhab and Howard Humphrey. Howard Humphrey assumed that Chalus- Ramsar road divides the area into two parts of northern and southern. The southern part of the road would be dedicated to villas and the northern part would include the Hyatt Hotel and Marina and its associated facilities as well as apartment complexes.

Mazandaran Forests are important sources of the country’s wealth; these forests have paying an active role in regulating the air condition and the flow of rivers. Their industrial effects, also, are of highest importance. Mazandaran forests approximately cover a million and a half hectares. They are consist mainly of broad-leaved trees. This feature makes them quite distinct from other forests in Iran.

Factors such as the Caspian Sea and the Alborz Mountains have made the northern slopes of the mountain ranges to have densely vegetative, so that in some parts of these areas no human hand has ever reached. This vegetation plays a key role in the climate of the province. At altitudes of over 2,500 meters above sea level, due to extreme cold, no forest exists. Wet forests of the northern slopes of the Alborz in the east connects to Minoodasht and Golestan forests.

Due to the remoteness of Namakabroud of the Caspian Sea and low level of moisture, the types of trees and forest landscapes change. Most important forest trees found in forests of Namakabroud are:

Oak and hornbeam (at average altitudes), Free (at average altitudes), hazel (at very low altitudes), alder (in wet valleys and edges of streams), boxwood that are always green (at average altitudes), maple, nemra, elm (Ulmus or minor), Ash (van), chestnut and beech (Fagus forests in economics are particularly important).

Namakabroud Weather

Generally plains of Mazandaran in northern Iran have a humid climates with mild temperate; this climate is known as the Caspian Climate. There are many factors affecting the weather of Namakabroud, including Alborz Mountains and their orientation, altitude, proximity to the sea, vegetation, local winds, and latitude; among these factors the roles of winds, the mountains, and the Caspian Sea are more important.

Generally speaking, there are two air streams in the region affecting Namakabroud:
The first stream is the flaw of air coming from the north and northeast Siberia to Caspian. In winter, it causes the cold weather, rain and snow. In summer, in the other hand, it rarely blows, causing the air to cool off.

The second stream is the westerly winds blow from the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, causing rain in winter and increased humidity in summer.

The famous local winds that are also blowing are Sortock (from Siberia in winter) Wind Khoshabad Darenour, Gilva (Uzruva) and Sam. Considering various factors that affect the climate of the province, there are three types of climate in this area; plain moderate, mountainous, and cold.
